Feedback Strategies

Since I realized that I was lacking in critical thinking when it comes to giving a feedback, I read about how to create a constructive feedback. I realized that just praising isn't good enough and does not help anybody. Instead of a simple "good job" or "nice work", I can start a feedback with a question to have both readers and writers to think. I can also give my own opinion on whats lacking or what was good about the story. I also learned from the criticizing praise to praise with more content in the praise itself. Instead of empty praises, if we praise them about a specific field or ability, it might improve their ability as a writer to improve their future writing.

  1. Tim, I found much the same thing in my own reading this week, I found that I tend to pass off "good jobs" and the like as a bypass for actually taking the time to provide genuinely useful feedback, so it is definitely something I will be working on. Your point about finding a specific thing to praise to make our praise actually mean something was a point I had not considered, and something I will try to use going forward.
