Week 4 Story : Servant Hanuman
Link to edited version
A long time ago, legendary vanara was born between Anjana and the god of wind, Vayu. He was named Hanuman (Anjaneya) and he was destined to do many great and awe-inspiring deeds. Ever since he was a kid his father, Vayu, always told him that he will and must serve under the legendary Vishnu when he grows up. Hanuman trained himself and educated himself further to become the best servant he could when Vishnu showed up. After years of waiting and training, Hanuman noticed two people walking through the kingdom of Kiskinda, when he was standing guard near the edge of the kingdom. Hanuman felt something from the travelers... He didn't know what it was but he had to find out. Upon hearing Rama and Lakshmana's story of exile and kidnapping of Sita, Hanuman realized that Rama was the avatar of Vishnu and decided to join their adventure. Hanuman convinced the brother of the king of Kiskinda, Sugreeva, to help Rama recover his lost wife, Sita. Sugreeva agreed to help but only if they can remove his brother, Vali, form the throne. After they successfully dethrone and kill Vali, Hanuman's adventure to rescue Sita began. When Rama was describing Sita to Hanuman, Hanuman did not interrupt a single word and listened in silence as he had nothing but respect for Rama. When hearing that Sita was in Lanka, Cheerful words from Rama was enough for Hanuman to cross the sea and head into the enemy territory. I will end my story here for the great servant Hanuman. Hanuman never questions Rama's authority and follows him with no doubt. A true servant any master could have wanted.
Authors Note: I rewrote the story of Hanuman and how he encountered Rama. Since my project is about Hanuman, I didnt want to edit too much to distort the original concept. Nothings really been changed but I tried to come up with the story in my own words.

Hi Tim. I liked hearing some of the backstory of Hanuman from his side of things. I thought he was one of the better characters in the Ramayana and didn't get enough "screen time." I think you did a good job of capturing how loyal Hanuman was to Rama (or Vishnu). Thanks for the read!
ReplyDeleteHey again Tim. I just got done reading this story your wrote up and wow I really enjoyed it! It was nice you put in a kind of prelude to the Hanuman. It was cool you wrote it up from another point of view, it really makes the reader have a different out look on the story. Well good luck and keep up the good work on future stories!
ReplyDeleteHey Tim! Good work on making the story different and your own for your project. One thing you may consider is adding dialogue which would make the story more relatable to your readers and make the characters more real! Just a heads up though that the link to your edited story didn't work for me so you may check that out.
